Bio

Irvin Rodriguez (*1997, Brooklyn, United States) makes photos, mixed media artworks and conceptual artworks. His photos establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its viewer. With a conceptual approach, he investigates the dynamics of landscapes through digital media, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of vision based on our assumptions of what a landscape is. These works focus on questioning what affects our reality in a digital/physical space. By emphasizing aesthetics, he tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way, involving the viewer in a way that is sometimes physical and believes in the idea of function following form. His works directly respond to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences from the artist as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context. He has exhibited various times with the Photography club of The College of Staten Island. Irvin Rodriguez currently lives and works in Staten Island.
